High Wycombe, 30 September 2026 — Challengers secured a 29-run victory over Smashers in Match 3 of the Autumn League, defending 163/13 in a contest shaped by aggressive batting, wicket penalties and decisive late fielding.

Smashers finished on 134/15 after their 20 overs. The result gave Challengers their second successive league victory.

Challengers Recover From Early Setbacks

Challengers won the toss and chose to bat, but Smashers quickly applied pressure. Abhilash Anand bowled Dev and had Visagn caught in the second over, while Rohit Srivastava’s three wickets kept the batting side under scrutiny.

Under the paired-over format, early dismissals cost runs rather than ending a batter’s innings. Challengers therefore needed both boundaries and better wicket protection to build their total.

Abhijit Thuse contributed 24 runs from 19 balls, while Mohan supplied a vital burst of acceleration. His three sixes off Rajesh helped turn the innings around, and he finished with an unbeaten 25 from 17 balls before retiring not out.

Mahanth Sharma top-scored with 31 from 25 balls, while Ashish B added 24 from 16. Together, those contributions lifted Challengers to 163/13.

Abhilash finished with three wickets for 24 net runs from four overs. Rohith Shylendra also claimed three wickets, conceding 13 net runs from three overs, while Rohit Srivastava’s two-over spell returned three wickets for just four net runs.

Rohith Leads The Smashers’ Resistance

Chasing 164, Smashers suffered early setbacks against Kunal Patel and Prem. Five dismissals in the opening four overs left them with considerable ground to recover.

Rohith Shylendra led the response with a powerful 36 from just 19 balls, giving Smashers their strongest individual batting contribution. Abhilash Anand added 15 from 10 balls, while Srivatsan contributed 18 from 13.

Challengers continued to take wickets, however. Prem claimed four, Mohan took three and Kunal added two, ensuring the chase never escaped their control.

Final-Over Pressure Seals The Win

Smashers entered the final over on 139/12, needing 25 runs to win.

Mahanth Sharma and the Challengers fielders closed out the match emphatically. Two run-outs, credited to Visagn and Kunal Patel, and a bowled dismissal produced three wicket penalties. Smashers scored four runs during the over but lost nine through penalties, finishing on 134/15.

Mahanth completed an economical spell of one wicket for 14 net runs from four overs, sealing a 29-run victory.
